The Cooperative Assessment and Management of the Al-Hawizeh/Al Adhim Marsh (CAMAAM) project held its kick-off meeting from February 24-26, 2025, at Thi-Qar University, Iraq. The meeting brought together researchers and stakeholders from Jordan, Iraq, Iran, and Switzerland (Geneva Water Hub) to launch this transboundary initiative focused on the sustainable management of the Al-Hawizeh/Al-Adhim Marsh (HAM) ecosystem. The three-day event included detailed presentations on research methodologies, interactive discussions, and a field visit   to Al-Hawizeh marsh. The project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented the Water Diplomacy Center (WDC) (Jordan University of Science and Technology), under the Blue Peace Middle East initiative, aims to develop comprehensive management strategies that address socio-economic, climate change, water scarcity, and environmental degradation challenges facing this vital wetland.
